Hello again,
Today I am thankful for dance. I actually thought to write about this as I was watching the show "So You Think You Can Dance" which I love watching! Dance has a language all it's own and can say so much through a series of movements. It tells a story without speaking a single word. Dance can be so moving to watch. I think what is so moving though is not just the steps but a combination of steps and emotion that the dancer brings it to life. I love watching the show because so many of the dancers are so good and they put the steps together with emotion so well to form a story that takes us on a journey. It is like when you read a really good book and you feel like you were there. A really good dance transports you for those few minutes through a story that the dancer is telling and you feel as though you are experiencing it along with them. I don't know if I am making sense here or not but I am trying to explain why dance is so amazing to me. Sometimes I watch the show and watch the dances and forget I am watching 2 dancers doing a series of steps and movements and I feel as though I am really watching a story unfold. I like watching dance because of the stories told and the amazing abilities of the dancers. So many of the movements they do look effortless but are so difficult that I wonder how on earth they possibly manage to move that way! I think we are meant to dance too-that we are created to dance. Maybe not to the level of a professional dancer but even just to move to the rhythm of music. I can't count how many times I have heard music and start moving to it because it just feels good. I love watching my 19month old nephew dance around when he hears music as well. I can't help but smile watching him move around and I can't help but move to the beat too. For these reasons I am thankful for dance.
