Hi again,
Today I am thankful for International Women's Day. This year marks the 100th anniversary of this day and it is celebrated around the world to my knowledge. The website for International Women's Day states that "International Women's Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday." I think it is wonderful to have a day dedicated to "social achievements of women". It has not always been easy for women and I am so grateful to live in a time and country where women have much the same rights as men do. There are still countries around the world where women are not treated even close to equal and I can't imagine living in a place where I would not have the opportunities or rights that I have and enjoy in Canada. I am grateful to the women who worked so hard for women's rights and equality. Because of their hard work, women like me have so many more opportunities to be who we want to be as well as vote and have our voices heard. thanks for reading my blog.
