Day 57: Christmas Cactus or Zygocactus

Hi again,
Today I am thankful for Christmas Cactus (aka Zygocactus). We have 4 if I am thinking correctly and they are so amazing because they flower in what seems to be the dead of winter when everything else is dormant. Each plant is a different colour in our house and they are so beautiful. Christmas Cactus just brighten up the room so nicely when it seems so devoid of colour in terms of flowers. I look forward to the plants flowering each time and what is also so nice is that they flower at Christmas and Easter so we get to enjoy flowers twice. One plant just finished flowering and it is getting more buds and I have no idea if this is normal but for our plants it is. So I was looking at them today and checking how big the buds are to see if they will be open for Christmas and I thought how thankful I am for the Christmas Cactus. When every plant outside is dormant and covered in a blanket of snow, there is not alot of colour or many places to go to experience colourful flowers other than the Christmas Cactus. For some reason we do not have alot of luck with other flowering plants here but the Christmas Cactus does really well. Also I am thankful that for some reason our plants seem to flower longer than they are supposed to. So this is why I am thankful for Christmas Cactus.
